Protein French Toast Casserole

Ingredients
  

French Toast:

  • 1 loaf of sourdough or brioche
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk I use raw milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup raw honey
  • 2 scoops protein powder if desired

Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1 tsp ceylon cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter
  • cut into cubes

Instructions
 

  • Start by cutting the bread into 1-inch cubes and spreading them evenly in a buttered 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla, and honey (add protein powder here if desired), then pour this mixture over the bread evenly.Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.
  • For the topping, mix the flour, honey, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl. Cut in the butter until it’s crumbly, then transfer the mixture to a small resealable plastic bag and refrigerate overnight as well.
  • When you’re ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F.Unwrap the baking dish and sprinkle the topping over the bread mixture.
  • Bake uncovered for 45-60 minutes, depending on yourpreferred softness. Serve and enjoy!
